    missing brake parts

Pulled the drums off my 64 ( standard / non power brakes) and the adjuster are missing! Is this common for someone to remove the auto adjusters? I don't see any benifit to doing this so maybe someone here can help. I bought the new hardware kits from Paragon along with the new adjusters so hopefully it will be back the way it belongs when I'm done. I'll also be painting the control arms to freshen them up and I'm not sure if the upper ball joint should be painted or not.

    Steve-----

I wouldn't say that it's "common", but some folks do remove the self adjusters due either to real or perceived problems with the mechanism. Some REAL old-time mechanics think that self adjusters are "no good" and that old, manually adjusted brakes are "the only way to go". I disagree. If the self adjusters are installed properly and in good condition, they will work just fine.

    Ball joints are unpainted.
