    5473795 & 5473796 Calipers

Was going through some parts and ran across disk brake calipers with 5473795 and 96 casting numbers. Can someone please advise me on what year these were originally for? Were the service replacments?

    Thank you,
    John Osterholm

    John-----

These caliper castings were used in PRODUCTION from about 1973 through 1982. From about 1973 onward, they were also used for SERVICE of all earlier Corvette disc brake applications. As a matter of fact, once-in-awhile you can even run into a 1st design (i.e. 65-E67) caliper with these casting numbers. All such 1st design calipers with these numbers were SERVICE-only.

All "547" prefix caliper castings are manufactured from gary iron; all "546" and "545" prefix castings are nodular or ductile iron.
