Re: Hum....
I don't see the 'test' enumerated in the current '67 JG book, but it is published in the '65 and '66 JG's....
(1) Evidence of exhaust outlet holes being filled int the rear fiberglass panel.
(2) Lower front side fender that is cut for side pipe cover clearance.
(3) Rear quarter panels that are cut to allow exit of side exhaust pipe.
(4) Rear quarter panel and inner skirt that are smoothly cut to provide a 3-1/2 inch radius for exhaust pipe clearance.
(5) The absence of the center exhaust pipe hanger at the transmission and evidence of non-threaded holes in the crossmember due to ground strap absence if originally N14.
(6) Weather-stripping or evidence of staple holes in fender skirt spash shields (approximately VIN 15,500 and later) would indicate the car is not originally N14 equipped. {specific to 1965 models}
(7) Evidence of rocker panel support brackets.
Note: there are other telltales specifically NOT enumerated in this judging guideline. The objective is to disclose enough information to the novice judge but NOT provide the restorer with a COMPLETE recepie for how to 'fake' it....
