When I purchased my 1966 coupe in the January of 2004 it was missing the complete shielding assy, now I am in the process of buying/replacing what was lost somewhere/sometime in the past. Ideas and thoughts on how to go about locating the correct assy. would be appreciated.

Re: 1966 Ignition Shielding
I believe Long Island Corvette sells a good quality reproduction set. It might be your best bet to get a complete ignition shielding set that is correct for your car. To try and locate all the parts you need in good condition and correct for your year at flea markets or swap meets would not be easy. Alot of the parts do show up on ebay regularly. You must know your car well to be sure the parts are correct for your car.- Top

Re: 1966 Ignition Shielding
On the same subject now that you bring it up Bob, there are suppliers out there I'm sure selling products that are a step if not more below in overall quality than what other suppliers might be offering. Is there a list of preferred suppliers for various parts, not to say it would not be subjective itself but in the opinion of the various experts who make up the N.C.R.S. as a whole? It would be nice if such a parts list/preferred supplier exsisted as I for one would visit it quite often. I also know the knowledge contained within this site is something to be admired and a extremely great educational tool not to be taken lightly.- Top

Re: 1966 Ignition Shielding
There is no list, however if you ask specific questions you will get some great advice. Some of the members that answer regularly are very knowledgeable. There are many vendors that perform repairs to original parts and there are vendors that sell reproduction parts. Not all of the vendors are equal. If you ask on this site or check the archives for previous comments on a subject you will get some good advice.- Top

Charlie Santorelli
Gary:
I just got back from Carlisle, and spent two days looking for the correct shielding for my '65 small block car. I knew that '63s, '64-65s, and '66-67s were all different, owing to the different part numbers in the reproduction catalogs. Unfortunately, none of the catalogs have pictures or drawings of the specific pieces.
After a day and a half, I had bought what I thought were the correct horizontal (over the plugs) shielding pieces. Then I ran across Charlie Santorelli. He had a book with diagrams for the correct parts. I'm not sure of the differences on the vertical pieces or the distributor cover, but the horizontals are all different. Turns out that the stuff I had bought was for a '66-67 and a '68-71. Charlie was nice enough to trade me for his pieces which, according to his diagrams, were correct.
During the Carlisle event, I took several photos of '65 cars with shielding. I believe I have the correct stuff now (thanks to Charlie).
Charlie is located in New Jersey. Telephone (908) 719-2354.
Good luck,
Mark- Top
