The various firewall grommets on my car appear to have been sealed around the edges with some sort of black goop. What is the closest available material to what was used at the factory (assuming the black goop was applied at the factory)?

Re: C2 - Grommet Sealant
Mark,
C-3s have what I believe is a similar black tar like substance. I have suggested liquid roofing cement to folks restoring C3s, however there may be something more automotive related that will work. See what the others have to say. One of the nice things about the roofing cement is that it is available at any good size hardware store or home center.Terry- Top

Re: C2 - Grommet Sealant
Guys, I have used "Kent Leak Check" made by Kent Industries.
Phone number 1 800 654-6333. This is in a aerosol can and when
sprayed on the firewall it looks exactly like the stuff the factory
used for their leakers. It can also be used for the undercoating in
the wheelwells.
Hope this helps,
Floyd
