Thanks for everybody from Carlisle first-timer

Thanks for all who responded to my post about a first-time visitor to Carlisle. The backpack, camera, notebook & pen, and baby powder suggestions were immensely helpful to me.

Thanks especially to Elaine Raisner. She was very helpful in suggesting parking, routes, etc., for the event, taking time from her duties at the Gallery to help my wife and I. Her efforts made our first of many visits to Carlisle a memorable experience. Tim: Thanks for the tip on the Sunnyside restautant. Terrific meal.

Anyone know how may Corvettes were there?

    Thanks again,

How does that compare with last year???

      Terry,

I have been to every one, but heard many naysayers bemoan everthing from car prices, part prices, selection, the crowd, the heat, the rain, the food, the women, etc. It's hard to judge from my one 20x60 foot spot when their are 84 acres to peruse. At one time I would ask Al Knoch what he thought of an event, but he always hailed any events as the best ever. I never got a bad report from Al, so I stopped asking him.

PS I thought they gave away a brand new 78 the first year, which would make it greater than 24th annual. It's probably just my Carlisle shell shock: seen one, seen them them all. Turn them upside down they all look the same.

        Geoffrey,
I don't have their press release from last year, so I don't know the answer. If that release hadn't just come in today or yesterday, I likely wouldn't have had it on hand either. Timing IS everything.

General consensus was traffic was down in the swap meet area, but there was much more space devoted to the parking of Corvettes since they chased the motorhomes and trailers offsite a few years ago, thus I would agree the number of car participants was up. As to the overall gate, who knows?

Dunno about dreary Saturday, but Dana Forrester told me he sold more artwork on Friday than he sold the entire three days last year.
