My 54 vette has a 1959 235 6 cylinder in it and I am putting on a new 9797 after market double action fuel pump. I've have it on and off twice and can't get it to pump. Will that pump work on a 1959 block? Am I missing something in the installation? The pump arm is against the cam when it is installed. The directions suggest a worn cam it it doesn't pump. Any suggestions?

a 9797 fuel pump will work and fit the 59 235 ci block.did you bench test the 9797? do you have gas from tank to pump(pumps don't like air in their inlet line)?unlikely the cam's pump lobe gone away but possible. put a dial indicator on the cam's pump lobe and rotate engine.no movemnet of dial indicator means cam shot.good luck, mike
