What is the number on the flasher for a 58 Corvette. I have one that has 642 on it. Any help much appreciated. john

The current edition of the '58-60 Judging Guide only recognizes one mfgr/model flasher as being concours correct (Signal Stat ZN232) although the AIM clearly calls out two separate PN's for the application (primary and secondary source suppliers)....
The same PN's mentioned for '58 are also referenced in the '57 AIM and the '56-57 Judging Guide recognizes both the Signal Stat ZN232 and TungSol AP273 flashers as being 'correct' for the application. NOTE: TungSol made a couple versions of this part (AP273 and AP273V) where the first was packaged in a tall can and the second was packaged in a short/squat can and the '56-57 JG book doesn't make a clarifying distinction.Comment

Geoffrey is referring to a type of flasher commonly used for the emergency brake warning light. Jack is referring to part numbers commonly used for turn signal flashers. 642 is a number of a Tung-Sol flasher of the type Geoffrey referred to. I'm not sure it's the correct one for your application, but then, I'm not sure what your application is; brake warning or turn signal. I have some info on the 642 e-brake flasher if that's what you need, but I'm not at home right now so getting it to you or posted here would have to wait until this evening.
