Lately, after I start the engine and it is running at idle for a minute or two, I get billowing clouds of white steam like smoke. It is always out the left exhaust and stops after a couple/three minutes. I checked for an anitfreeze like smell but couldn't really sense any. I don't get any smoke when its warmed up and driven, but it will reoccur on start up a couple of hours later( engine still warm). ????? (327/340hp)

Re: exhaust smoke
Jim,
The fact that the smoke is only coming out of the left exhaust may simply indicate that your heat riser is operating correctly. Duke Williams explained its operation very concisely - see the string of posts "heat riser frozen" on 8/28-29).
You never mentioned whether you've had to replenish lost coolant. Your description of billowing clouds of steam unfortunately doesn't support the best case scenario, i.e., just a lot of condensation in your exhaust. I suggest checking for exhaust gases in the coolant system with an exhaust gas analyzer.
Good luck,
