    C2: Rocking seats

Both buckets seats in my '65 rock back and forth about 1/4". Which parts are prone to wear to cause this?

    Thanks for your input.

I had this issue in my 66. The problem was a loose bolt which secures to seat track to the floor. These bolts kept loosening due to rusted undersized threads in the plates mounted under the floor.

besides scott's input, the ball bearings in the seat track often wear. not an easy fix. good luck, mike

I don't think the seat tracks with roller bearings were used until '67. You probably have the tube within a tube type which has some replaceable parts. However, that did not completely eliminate the problem in my '64. I ended up buying repro inner tubes from Miguel Delgado at 60's Corvette Seats which are a few thousandths larger than originals which solved the problem.

            Mark:

The seat tracks slide via 1/4" dia. x 2" long coil springs (4 per track), which are installed laterally within the tubular track. These act as the bearings. They are very sturdy, and if one splits/breaks, it will usually cause the track assembly to bind, not become loose. Most likely, the seat adjuster rod is not fully engaging the slots on the track, and causing "slop" . Check the cam's engagement on the inner side of the track rail.
