1968 Corvette Convertible storage area

Hello,
I am restoring my 68 convertible and I am working on the soft top storage area. Does anyone know what the threaded hole about midway back a few inches up from the floor. There is one on each side. Also is there some sort of pad that the soft top sets on. If someone could post a picture of there compartment is would be helpful.

I suspect your looking at the attachment point for shoulder harness.

I'm not aware of a pad for the top.

Did convertibles have shoulder harness belts, seems to me they did not? Would the car have the mounts regardless of if it came with them or not?

I've read that the shoulder belts were an option for convertibles in both 68 and 69. I would think that it would have been easier to install the attachment points in all bodies as they were put together rather than do it later.

My '68 did not have shoulder belts but the brackets are there.
