Could someone please provide the part number for a water pump, 1963 340HP?

    Thanks for any help!

The part number for the water pump probably won't do you much good as factory originals have LONG been out of production/inventory. What most go by is the casting number of the housing and 3782609 is what most look for...

Of course, there's more to it than just the cast number. For a factory concours application, you'll want it to be from the Saginaw foundry (NOT Tonawanda) and for it to be rebuilt/restored properly with a flat rear plate and slot-head screws vs. a later era lipped rear plate and hex-head bolts retaining the rear plate plus a correct SMALL drive hub with four fan mounting holes vs. an 8-hole, universal, hub.

        1. How do you tell the difference between the Saginaw and Tonawanda pumps?

        2. When the pump is mounted, can you see the rear plate and its mounting screws or bolts?

Jack, does the 608 pump have the same characteristics?

Tonawanda pumps, depending on specific casting number, will have either a recessed or protruding 'T' usually near the casting number/mold ID. Some specific castings have visual differences in the housing itself with the LH mounting leg bearing large reinforcing gussets. Saginaw castings typically have an 'S' to identify the foundry source, but it's almost always on the back side of the housing where it can't be seen when installed.

On whether you can see the rear plate & its fasteners once the pump is installed, just go to an engine with a water pump installed and look straight down behind the pulley... It's pretty easy to see the edge of the rear plate and one or more of its fasteners!
