    65 180 Block

    Anyone out there have a 65 with a 180 block in it.. would like to know if there are any outstanding differences..

    They are rare. I don't have one, but I believe that the oil gallery plug, near the water pump does not exist for the Tonawanda smallblock. Also, the casting date shows two digits for the year (i.e.: 1965 = "65")as opposed to the Flint single digit (i.e.: 1965 = "5"). The font for the block casting number is not as tall for the Tonawanda block, perhaps 5/8" tall, as opposed to almost 1" for the Flint.
    There may be other differences, as well, such as the configuration of the fuel pump rod temporary retaining bolt, etc.
