    68 Coupe windshield wiper door

    Gentlemen:
Is there a way to make adjustments to the vacuum operated windshield wiper door/panel?
Before my car went to the paint shop, the edge of the door that is adjacent to the hood was perfectly flush with the hood and the fenders at each end. Now after having been removed by the paint shop and reinstalled by me, this edge that is adjacaent to the hood is much lower. Are there any adjustments to raise this up so it is again flush. The panel is held in place at each end by two shoulder bolts that can only be installed one way so I am certain that this is not the cause.
Any help, suggestions or input will as always be greatly appreciated.

    Kurt:

The assembly that the wiper door attaches to at both ends has I believe 3 mounting brackets to the firewall in the engine bay. These brackets have 2 bolts each that, when loosened allow the assembly to move, in height, up and down. This will allow the wiper door to set up higher or lower.

There are several adjustments for the wiper door and all should be documented in your copy of the Chassis Service Manual. On either end of the wiper door (facing the windshield), you'll find a pair of set screws that dictate the wiper door's final rest position against the glass. Since you had your car painted by a professional, I think I'd take it back and have the painter correct the adjustment(s) for you if you're not familiar with what does what....

          Jack,
Thanks for the reply. I am such a pain in the neck fussbudget that I would prefer to make these adjustments rather than take the car back to the painter. I was in stress mode the entire 4 months the car was out of my sight and rarely let anyone work on it unless it is something I absolutely positively cannot do myself (like paint). I will look in the chassis service manual, I never even thought of looking there; showing my age I guess. Thanks again,
          Kurt
