    '66 TACHOMETER NOISE

Just about anywhere above idle, the tach needle is a bit bouncy, accompanied by a low "gear turning" type noise. What might I check, or lubricate to try and solve the problem, and/or prevent what might come next? The tach cable is original.

remove cable from its housing, clean it thouroughly, and then lubricate it( lightly) with delco speedo lubricant or vaseline(KY jelly if you are a dipstickeo). good luck, mike

If you live in northern climes, use the KY that warms up once applied to your..cable!
