    C3 Lower Panel Screw

    C3 Lower Panel Screw

Can someone tell me what the purpose of this screw is on a '69? I have the hole in my panel, but no screw. Also, does this screw utilize a washer?

Pic has white arrow pointing to screw:

There is a black plastic spoiler that goes below the front panel. There are holes on each side that the spoiler bolts to. Your spoiler does not look like mine, quite a bit wider I would say from the picture, Maybe it is aftermarket and mounted differently? But anyway that is what the holes are for. Tom

      Tom,

This a pic from a 14K mile car that was for sale on eBay. The spoiler on this car may be what the original one looked like. Maybe others can confirm this?

I have a repop one and it looks different than the pic. Probably the same one you have. I purchased the spoiler mounting kit too and now I see how this is set up. Based on what I got from the mounting kit this is a bolt and not a screw.

      Thanks,

      Pat

The spoiler on the car on ebay is not like the spoilers originally installed in 1969 at St. Louis. I mentioned that in my post on the subject of that car farther down the page. That said, the spoilers available today are not like those originally installed at St. Louis either. They differ in more subtle ways than the one shown on ebay, however. Features of the original spoilers are described in the TIM&JG.

There was originally no screw or hole at that location. The only fastners which install "vertically" in the lower panel are the pair of hex head screws on either side. These retain the outer grill mounting brackets.
