C1 1955 "Hour Meter" - Searching tips?

A friend asked me via e-mail if 55's had an hour meter. I assume he means the type of hour tracker that my John Deere has.

I searched in the archives and entered hour meter, selecting "as a phrase" from the pull down menu. I get several articles that have various topics, but I didn't see the words "hour" and "meter" together in any article. What am I doing wrong?

The tach has a rev counter, not an hour meter. Chuck

Don't know about "hour meter" but in the aviation industry they are called Hobbs Meters. And all they do is measure actual running time. Try that as a search? I can't imagine any Corvette having a Hobbs Meter, although one could be hooked up in a couple of hours.

I have been told the early 'Vette tach...

was adapted from a Jeep speedo, and they kept the counter as a novelty.
