    Lynndale Blue 67

I am looking for a TopFlight Lynndale car in the Baltimore, Maryland area that can be used for color reference. Does anyone know of one? Also, does anyone have recent experience in having a Lynndale car judged after restoration with todays color formulations?

    Thanks
    Daniel

No I am NOT kidding. There was more than just one LYNNDALE blue corvette
produced in 67; records show there were 1,381! I made an inquiry here for
      help not sarcasm.

Maybe this will clarify my initial post:
I am looking for a car, original/restored in the MD, PA, VA area, that could
be used to compare color spray-outs for correctness or for information about
a paint manufacturer (Dupont, PPG, Sikkens, Glassurit, Spies Hecker) who has
a lacquer formulation that most closely matches the factory applied Lynndale
      blue color.

Each paint manufacturer has a different representation (variation) of the
same color code. There is even variations internally to manufacturers. I
learned this after I had my 66 Mosport painted and it was several shades
      off. (Spies Hecker BC/CC).

          Daniel,
I am in the same situation. My 67 Lynndale/teal will be ready for paint this winter and every car I look at is a different shade, including mine, which is too light. I am also considering changing the stinger and top from its original white to black.
Hopefully there will be some fine examples at Carlisle this year.
          Please post your findings.
          Best regards,
          Rick

Steves car was painted with Dupont lacquer. The person who painted it has passed away.I buffed the car & helped Steve with the restoration.Your car has been repainted(Im told) with bc/cc urathane sense it was judged and won its Duntov. The hard top still had its factory applied lacquer when it was judged & was a perfect match....Bill

I am reading this and laughing.
I had a '67 blue vert, back around 1970, original paint.
Now, I go to Corvette shows and see these '67's Lynndale blue.
I never saw the correct color shade on one of them.

That coupe is the correct color and you don't see it too often.

                    Very nice car.

As I stated in a later post I used my 67 as a tow car taking C1 swap meet parts to NCRS for sale back when they did that. I remember at the Copper Mountain National meet where we were asked to vote ether to let in or not C2's in NCRS. No one voted yes!! Back then only 53 to 62 Corvettes were thought to be collectable's. After all you could still find C2's in used car lots.

                        Roy,
Are you sure about your time frame? I went to Copper Mtn. Drove my 63 from Kansas City area. They were judging Mid years by then, were they not? It was in 84, I think. I don't know. Maybe I can't remember the "good ole days" as well as I thought.

                          Dave,

I'm almost certain you are correct. I'm pretty sure they were judging C2 at that 84 Copper Mtn event. (we drove a 425 HP 66 all the way from Illinois) In fact, I showed a 63 at the Flint Mi meet that was somewhere around 80 or 81, if I remember correctly.

I remember Copper Mountain in 1984, and there were a lot of midyears judged. Recall a black '67 with blue stripe tires and matching hood stripe. Belonged to Wayne Walker IIRC. Unless there were two Copper Mountain meets. In 1984 I made a pitch to the BoD to allow C3s in for judging. Those were judged beginning in 1985.
