    Re: TANK STICKERS

Actually, with respect to 1967's, there are several members who have enough information on assembly line sequence numbers to have been able to establish a clear pattern regarding their relationship to actual VIN numbers. The pattern indicates the VIN could be just before, or exactly match the VIN. The VIN on this car should be 407.

The VIN could be 406 or 906.... or 407 or 907.......or possibly even 405 or 905. The PENCILED number repeated every 500 numbers while the VIN last 3 digits repeated every 1000 numbers............

        Re: Point of Information...

During the midyear era, the VIN wasn't pre-printed on ANY production documents except the Broadcast Copy; all the others (Corvette Order Copy, Corvette Order, window sticker, Car Shipper, etc.) were computer-printed before the car was built (thus the VIN was unknown), and the car's VIN was added manually to those documents with an IBM Selectric typewriter (or an office number stamp for the price sticker) by a clerk in a booth at the end of the Final Line. That same clerk also created the P-O-P on an Addressograph machine, affixed it to the warranty folder, and placed it in the glove box along with Copy 7 of the "Corvette Order" and the Car Shipper. The VIN plate was created and installed at the beginning of the Trim Line, and that operation was moved back into the Paint Shop later during the C3 era.
