RESISTOR VOLTAGE C2

With the ignition on & motor off I have 12.5 V at resistor useing red lead on my voltage meter to top lug on resistor & the black lead on the metal hood locks. With red lead on top & black lead on bottom lead it shows -3V. I assume the former lead position is correct? Don

If I read your description correctly about where your "leads" were then you just checked the voltage drop across the resistor which is about 3 volts or 8-9 volts at the coil to ground.........
