    C1 Cooling

1958. Noticed my rad cap leaking after car is driven a while and gets hot. There is a fine spray of coolant under the hood and over the air cleaner. The coolant level is to the bottom of the filler neck. Is the cap bad (the rubber gasket looks ok) or is my coolant level too high? Thanks, Ken

    Kenneth...

The coolant level should be an inch or two below the filler neck, however the overflow hose would take care of it. Check to make sure this is not where the spray is coming from, then go for a new cap.

The original type cap did not have

a gasket to get a good seal on the filler neck, and was causing this on my C1. I added a hand-cut gasket, and no more leaks have occurred.
