    owners manual, plastic pouch

Does the clear plastic owners manual pouch, found in the glovebox, have a Corvette specific part number (say, C1 or C2 era)? I recently viewed one on EBAY and the seller stated that the part number on the front/bottom right was specific to a early 1960's Corvette.
I recently found my dads 1965 Impala owners manual/pouch and it has a part number on the front/bottom right. The manual also has the metal protecto plate stapled inside. Can any dealer info be derived from this plate?

    Joe,
C1's did not come with a plastic envelope. Starting sometime in the 63 model year (mid year as I recall from memory) plastic pouches were introduced. The easiest way to recognize them is the first design had no yellow key on the front and the second design had the hexagon key. In 1968 the key changed to rectangular in shape and 1972 only was completely clear. They are dated except for the clear pouch. 1960 thru mid 1963 used a grey paper envelope.

Thanks for the info, I will compare your comments to the pouch. But, I would still like to know if the part number is significant/unique or just generic for all of the 1965 Chevrolet car lines.

            Joseph,
The plastic pouch that I have for my '65 has part number 3834959 printed on the back in the lower right hand corner. This information is documented in the '65 TIM&JG on page 38 under Glove Compartment Contents.

            Regards,
            Gene

              Joe -

No dealer-related information was imprinted on the P-O-P.
