I asked this once before and really got nowhere with it... I've had at least 3 NCRS numbers (maybe a few more!) since the early 80's and I was wondering if it's possible to research years back and use an old membership number (not that it matters). Might be interesting. My current number is a year or 2 old, I think.
How far back can membership numbers be researched?

Re: How far back can membership numbers be researc
Steve,
usually, when people renew their membership they're given the prior number even if it's been several years. You likely changed addresses, too, else you would have been automatically reassigned that number.
Call Eric Mortimer at the main office, and he can likely reassign you to your old number if you wish. He has the listing of all the numbers. If you know your original number, that would help.

Re: How far back can membership numbers be researc
Steve-----
Once-upon-a-time, NCRS numbers, some or all, were assigned using some system other than sequentially by initial date of membership. In the arly 1990s, I believe that the system was changed and numbers re-assigned, as necessary, to achieve a sequential, by-initial-date-of-membership system. In the old system(s), I think that numbers could be reassigned as folks dropped their membership and others joined. In the new system, the numbers are not re-assigned. As far as I know, that's the system still in use today. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: How far back can membership numbers be researc
Thanks, Joe. It makes sense that they would not re-assign formerly used numbers to other people. I know they did go back and give formerly-used numbers to people returning to NCRS. Being a Prodigal Son Pain in the &^^%%$%, I know I had a couple of numbers/memberships in the 80's, a couple in the 90's and at least 2 numbers in the last 5 years or so. Im not sure how many of these numbers were unique. I thought it might be interesting to dust off an old number of mine from a couple decades ago.- Top

Re: How far back can membership numbers be researc
I joined NCRS in 1976 when I bought my first Vette that I still have. I rejoined a year ago and was able to get my original number back. #1787. I did call and ask Gary Mortimer if it was possible to get it back and he said he didn't think it would be a problem. I have my original number!!!!
Thanks Gary
