66 Side exhaust cover saga - cont.

A few members asked me to post pictures in an attempt to figure out why my side exhaust covers no longer fit. To recap - removed and installed correct brackets with rivets. Upon reinstall, the covers extend past door sills into wheel well.

Did you possibly get the front brackets mixed up? They have different shapes and could explain this. Also Didn't you use the original holes that secure the covers to the rocker panel area. If you did then the cover should go back in the same location. Are these the original covers or aftermarket? If they are aftermarket check the hole configuration against the originals.....
If you want, I can give you a dimension for the holes on a factory installed set for checking purposes.

The distance from the front of the rear wheel opening to the first screw that secures the side exhaust is 6 1/8"

Looks like your problem stems from the front bracket. It appears to have a weird bend and is bent to the rear too far, placing the cover too far rearward by what appears to be almost an inch.
Try properly positioning the cover at the rear and work forward, all of your side mounting holes should then line-up. Check your AIM for the proper bend of the front bracket and you're done.

Bought the bracket from Long Island Corvette, and it looks like the one on Paragon's web-site, so not sure that's the problem. Will measure bracket.

Thanks for eveyone's help. Sorry the link didn't work.
