The cable should pull right out but keep in mind that if the cable separated, there's a chance that the casing might have been damaged as well.

In looking at my Corvette America book, they sell them for about $21.00 part# 0277 (plus shipping of course)

I'm not endorsing C.A., it just happened to be the first parts book I picked up.

Plus, the parts book didn't specify if this was just the cable or cable and casing. I'll guess both, your going to have to ask.

If it's just the cable, you should also pick up some cable lube as well.

    Regards,

    Chuck

You can find the center portion at most auto parts houses in a kit that you cut to length and crimp on an end fitting and use your old casing. I think that you'll find that you need to remove the entire cable assembly in order to do this. While going to that much effort, you might as well put in a new assembly-cable and sheathing. I haven't had good luck crimping the ends, but others probably have.

you might want to ask about the length of the replacement cable. I replaced a tach cable and it was too long of the original case. Wound up buying a replacement case. This was on a 73.
