Dwell and RPM Tool for C1

What is a good tool to measure dwell and read RPM's for the C1 and where can I purchase it?

dwell meter/tach combos are out there. if you are gonna use it once, get the "harbor freight el cheapo". gonna use it half a dozen times a year, get the snap-on critter. easy to use and only way to accuratly set points . mike

Some good equipment is available at swap meets or on-line auctions. Fewer and fewer cars use that kind of equipment. Individual mechanics, shops, and vocational schools are getting rid of older equipment because it doesn't work on modern cars.

I just bought one for $50 at Sears. It worked just fine on my 57.

I've had mine for at least 35 years (they don't make 'em with solid die-cast housings and a glass lens any more), but Actron also makes them these days - http://www.actron.com .

I bought a Sears model 21029 and use it on both my '57 and '61. It works good and is easy to use. It was about $50.

Whatever you do, don't buy the eastwood digital automotive multimeter.

It ready voltage OK but the other functions are nearly worthless. Dwell works but it is very sluggish. RPM doesn't work. Even the simple function of continuity is questionable.

Thanks everyone I ordered a Sunpro from NAPA $41.99. I think Sunpro is made by Actron. It appears to be the same as their CP7605. Thanks again. Jimmy

Check EBAY under Engine Analyzers. You can get a really nice Sears unit for under $30, sometimes still new in the box. Make sure it has the manual.
