I have a set of repro bolt on wheels for my '67. They look quite old and the paint between the fins is black. The latest edition of the NCRS Judging Manual states the color should be dark gray. Below is a picture of a new repro bolt on and it sure looks black to me. Can anyone confirm the gray paint is correct? Thanks, PT

Patrick,
The manual is correct. The original color was a dark grey, Definitely not black. It almost had a slight metallic look when new.- Top

Thanks Michael, I just wanted to verify that before I waste a whole weekend painting them dark metallic gray. I guess the repro manufacturers have been using the black paint for a long time, but hardly anyone ever questions it.- Top

Re: '67 Bolt On wheel paint color...
Patrick, Several years ago David Cosner restored K/O's and B/O's and was a regular vendor at the Florida Winter meet. He sold the correct wheel paint by the pint and may still sell it. I recently saw him listed on the BG vendor list with the website http://www.caseontheweb.com which is his family's store in Indiana. This info just in case you want to contact him. Regards, Jim- Top

Re: '67 Bolt On wheel paint color...
--------Long Island has this gray in spray cans. It seems very close to original. If you get some shoot the last coats very dry to get the right appearance. By dry I mean shot from a distance so the metallic stands on end (sort of)..........Bill S- Top
