    Change in JM in order?

    John,

With your knowledge of A.O. Smith paint procedure prior to hardware installation and our known, or expected, examples of originallity, might we expect a special description in judging manuals for the A.O. Smith body Corvettes concerning black overspray on hood latches? If I ever judge engine compartments on these cars, it would be comforting to be correct when sharing with the owners why there are differences between A.O. Smith and St. Louis bodied cars.

    Best regards,

Re: Change in JM in order?

      Kent -

The JG currently indicates that the (firewall) latches on A.O. Smith bodies "may exhibit less overspray in this area", and that the hood latch cable on A.O. Smith bodies "may have unpainted hood latch cross cables". Perhaps that could be clarified somewhat - I'll make a recommendation to the National Team Leader.

I tryed to tell em that years ago, but they just couldn`t bring themselves to make the statement. Thus the muddy water.

Re: Change in JM in order?

Thanks John. Sounds like a slight revision in the JG is in order. I wonder if changing just the word "less" to the word "no", in the JG, would cover it. Could read, "may exhibit no overspray in this area"? That would leave it open with no point deduct for either painted or non painted on the AOS cars.

Re: Change in JM in order?

Thanks John. Hopefully clarification is in order. I hated to restore my '67 in a few areas to meet the JM instead of as originally represented upon my purchase.

Too bad for the hobby that I had started the '67 restoration and was beyond a point of no return prior to the bowtie program, even though the program was conceived as a possibility within NCRS.
