    Z06 convertible at auction

The documented Z06 convertible is listed at rmauctions.com for the Monterey Sports And Classic Car Auction. Estimated price $650,000-950,000. Nice write up.

Will it bring that kind of money??? Time will tell.

    Re: Z06 convertible at auction

I think this one may be a mind blower! AFAIK this is the ONLY DOCUMENTED Z-06 convertible extant. I think the record sales price for a St. Louis-built production Corvette (Grand Sports and on-off showcars/prototypes excluded) is the '67 "12-mile L-88", which went for something over $600K a couple of years ago. I'd be willing to bet even odds that this car will go for more.

The only error I found in the auction writeup:

was the SCCA class. In 1962 the new 327 Corvette was classified as A-production, which I think was the first use of this class. The new '63 model was also classified AP, but when the big block was introduced 327 models were reclassified BP and 283s CP, with big block models classified AP.

Also, didn't this car have the OE wheels and wheel covers when it first surfaced. The KOs can't be original!

      Duke,

You are correct. The car was first seen with steel wheels and hub caps. I have pic's of the car as it was still sitting in the barn, completely covered with dust. Wish it still had the original wheels and caps. (I'm beginning to really dislike KO wheels)

Right again on the A/Prod. 63's were A/Prod until 65 when the big block cars took over and sent small block 63's to B/Prod.

I have recently contacted Barrett Jackson to register my 1963 Z06 for the January 2006 Scottsdale auction. What do you think my original owner car will sell for? It has a Duntov, Bloomington Gold, Bloomington Special Collection (the first one). Chip's Choice and twice in the Field of Dreams. I have all the paper work incuding the retail order and the deposit chech used to buy the car.

I wouldn't want to hazard a guess, but, no doubt, you will get big bucks. I think this Z-06 convert. at Monterey is going to up the ante on all '63 Z-06s.

But why are you selling it???

Don't forget about the capital gains tax, and a car is a "collectible" so you pay the full rate.

If you keep it until it becomes part of your estate (and I'll assume there will be no estate tax then or the floor will be much higher than today), it will pass to your heirs at a basis equal to its value at that time, so if they sell it, there is essentially no tax - in fact, any selling expenses such as sales commissions, etc. will generate a captial loss that they can use.

Why share your windfall with the Parliaments of *****s in Washington and your state capitol!

Many hundred thousand. Reference your profile, how many miles have you driven your Z06?

There is 203000 on the odometer. But the cable was broken for about 6 months before I was able to get the time fix it. So I assume about 210,000. The car still has the original radiator and nearly every thing else.

Hi David, You should get at least $275.000 and up,the problem with Barrett Jackson is that there "NO RESERVE" set, if the Highest bid comes in at $100,000 and they call it, that what you get ,Less Barrett Jackson cut, I think it will go high it,s a nice car, Good Luck Danny
