Re: 63 or 66 coupe, What's your choice??
The grass is always geener......
Are you more of an emperical thinker or wear your heart on your sleeve? Listen to the facts and stay with the 66 or 'feel' warm and gushy and go with the SWC. It's not a stretch to liken this decision with a choice between the fancy red haired girl and the blonde tomboy.
Had a 62 and always admired the the 61s from a perspective of looks, sold the 62, got a 61...wish I had a 62.
The 66 from my perspective is the zenith of the mid years. Best of everything, clean lines. With the big block it is the essence of the corvette legend. I have owned a 63 coupe for about 36 yrs and have openly coveted the 66 with a big block. Remember, endearing qualities often become points of contention and familiarity breeds contempt.- Top

Re: for Mike Cobine Re: 63 or 66 coupe
Mike,
To date, that's 1,851 1963's accounted for and I assume we might triple it if not more!
Driving my '63 is always a pleasure. If you master the head tilt you always know whats behind you...if they can keep up.
The drum brakes keep you alert at all times but it's the endless tailgaters riding your bumper, or blind spot for a glimpse of "what is it?" that keeps you on the edge.

Buy the '63. Drive both for a while and then, if you really can only keep one, make your decision on the basis of your own usage and enjoyment.
Careful here... I love my SWC but lusted mightily for a '58 to drive... I made this same decision, buy the '58 and move the one that needs to go.
They are both still in the garage. It's easy to love them both!- Top
