You should have wood trim on the console if your car originally had the deluxe trim.

I count at least 7 separate unrelated questions in your one post. You might get more response if you ask just one per post.

Some 1970 cars came with wood on the doors but no wood on the console. I have a vert this way. Reba Whittingtion would probably know for sure. I don't have my JG with me. Thad

        Jack,

        1. Welcome to current GM parts. They often sort-of resemble the parts that came on your car originally. What you received is as good as a new GM part gets. Better parts can often be excellent condition used parts.

        2. The reproduction emblems made by Trim Parts are generally better than the ones currently sold by GM. I would get those instead if the color concerns you that much.

        3. The light of the ash tray is only lit if your lights are on.

        4. Buy the "Vette Vues Fact Book 68-72" by MF Dobbins, available through the NCRS bookstore. It has many pictures. Of course, you should buy the correct 70-72 Judging Guide if you haven't already.

The only light in the ash tray area of a 70 is when the lights are on and the only lighted area is the cigarette/cigar lighter. You have to remove the lighter to see the light. The light clips to the side of the lighter when viewed in removing the console piece. The closing and opening of the ash tray area is not spring loaded in any way. The cover of the ash tray has plastic/nylon slides on each side. The cover is opened and closed manually. The lighter light intensity is controlled by the same rotation of the headlight switch for the instrument lights.

According to the judging guide, not all 1970s with custom interiors had the wood on the console.
