    C-2 Internal Alternator Arc?

My habit is to flip the battery disconnect switch on my '67 whenever I park it in the garage. However, in a recent conversation with a fellow car club member(not NCRS), I was told that this will harm the alternator because it causes an internal voltage arc each time the switch is re-energized, eventually "frying" the alternator. I have been using this switch as stated for at least ten years with no apparent problem. Anyone heard of this happening?

The only time that you could possibly hurt your altenator with the switch is cutting it off when it is running. And that is not 100% of the time
