A friend recently found what he thought was a dealer offered pedal type car, but it looked like it was electrically powered. He believes this particular one was a 63. Were they all pedal, some more recent offerings had gas engines.

Re: Early Promo pedal/elect/gas Corvettes
The official '63 promotional was an electric go kart made by Barry Toycraft. Look under the body behind the driver opening and you might find the serial number. I did an article for THE RESTORER on the '63's about 3 years ago. The '59-60 little car was made by Yardman and had a gas motor. I believe a '57 was made as a pedal car. Since then, others have been made including several by manufacturers not associated with Chevrolet or GM.- Top

Re: Early Promo pedal/elect/gas Corvettes
Better than that, let's post it here so everyone can see.
A little background, these pictures are dated May '83. They were taken on Martha's Vineyard at the Vette Vineyard Voyage where Chevy invited Vette owners to bring their cars over on the ferry and get to drive and critique the BRAND NEW '84 Vette! Talk about incentive!
I have no info on the pedal car other than I think it belonged to someone in Oak Bluffs where the main show was held. He wanted to "show it" along with all the other Corvettes. Itsa' cutie, huh?
Memories of the event: I was the first one to get the keys to one of the 84's. I won Best of Show with my '63. I think the parade lap pretty much encompassed the entire island! And the 84's were both running rough and smoking quite a bit on the ferry ride back. They "was rode hard"!

Pretty neat for sure. I saw an original like that go through Bob Gold's auction at Bloomington in 1991. I think it sold for about $2500. Nice originals are rare. Thanks for posting the photos. Jim - Member #2978- Top
