This past weekend as I was leaving a car show with my 62 when I was suddenly was without brakes, my foot went straight to the floor, fortunately I was still inside the show at the exit gate and so I was able to get the car safely to the shoulder without an incident, thanks to a great working emergency brake. This was after a two hour drive at sixty five miles an hour to get there. Guess it was just my lucky day.Prior to leaving the day before I had serviced and safety checked the car for the trip, prior to this moment the brakes had felt and worked perfectly. Thanks to the help of a good friend and Corvette owner who lived close came to my rescue with a trailer and safely got the car home. After closer inpection it appears that what I have is master cylinder failure, the resevoir is completely full and the system has no leaks.I have removed the master cylinder and found it still to be the original, my question is at this point any recommendations on rebuilding with or without a stainless sleeve.point who could do? vendor recommendations etc. as always thanks for your help and suggestions.

Re: Pedal To The Metal
There are several companies that restore master cylinders. Some of the most reccommended are:
White Post Restorations (www.whitepost.com)
Apple Hydraulics (www.applehydraulics.com)
Vette Brakes (www.vettebrakes.com)
Stainless steel brake corp. (www.ssbrakes.com)
I had mine done by White Post and was very pleased with the result.- Top

Re: Pedal To The Metal
Oth, I take the view that the MC is easily rebuilt. If the bore is in good condition why not just rebuild it using standard components? Cheap, quick, and easy and will last you 20 years (maybe) it needs it again.
