    Vintage Racing in Europe

    Gentlemen,

    take a short look to
    www.scci.ch

The Swiss Corvette Club International is celebrating a racing event once a year in Hockenheim. It's a Formula 1 racetrack (i know - don't tell me something about Indianapolis, please).
Quartermile, Slalom and one fast lap are the highlights - and in the end there are three public rounds behind the pacecar.

    Pure fun

I was at the concours friday night, saw up close how beautiful those cars are. The sound of them at start up still makes my hair stand on end. It is a real shame to see the millions of dollars in classic race cars scattered all over the track, BUT as many of u on this site know thats racing. Thank god no one was seriously injured. Next year I hope they r all back at this wonderful event so I can watch them due things to there cars I would never do to mine.

I returned last evening from the BRIC to see a friend in #64 black 1969 Corvette race. I was on the pit side when the accident occurred. The black Camaro is a real 1967 Z28 with Trans Am history. It was owned by Reggie Jackson and it was a beautiful car as was the 1967 blue Z28 owned by Ed Jensen. Somehow Bill Morrison made it out uninjured, he's owned and raced that car for about 40 years. All the cars are beautiful and breathtaking to see in person. They are surely much prettier than when they were raced during their era. The '69 Pontiac TA is owned by Colin Comer and is a beautiful car, #71 is also a slick car that is built much like the Donahue car that was on the pole. All very fast and capable cars. For the most part, the drivers of these cars have been racing at this track for quite a while. Very sad to see.
