    St.Louis Plant Railway Doors

These are the St.Louis Plant railway doors that I negotiated to save and were originally to be included in the design of the Corvette Museum. Heavy equipment was arranged and the doors were lowered...

Then things changed and they were no longer wanted by the museum planners.

    Too bad..as they were GRAND!

Your A.O Smith body would have been delivered by rail through these great doors.

It's great to finally see the doors you've been talking about. I didn't expect the bi-fold. To bad they are lost, remind me again where they ended up?

The property owner on my request had the doors removed. I went to see them and they were stacked ready for me to take.

When I was informed by Dan Gale that they were no longer wanted..I informed the owner of this and sometime later not being able to rent or sell the Corvette plant building..the owner contracted a salvage operator to knock the building down.

I suspect the doors were trashed. I don't recall the name of the salvage operator..but I thought it was someone from Granite City, Ill.
