    75 Corvette metal floor?

I see vendor references to metal floors in late 75 Corvettes. I thought the metal floor pans started with the 76 MY. My 75 AIM doesn't reference matal pans, at least that I have seen. What's the deal?

    Ed-----

1975 did use a unique-to-1975 floor pan. I always thought that the 1975 floor pan was fiberglass, too. I don't think that the 1976 floor pan, which I'm sure was steel, was used for any 1975 models. It may well be possible to retrofit the steel-type floor pans to 1975 models, though.

75 was fiberglass floor. There are metal shields in the convertor area to shield the heat.

The floor pan in my 75, built in Dec 74, is certainly fiberglass. I have no intrest in changing it to metal, but am simply curious as to whether there was a mid-year change to the metal pan. I distinctly remember when the 76 models came out that they had metal pans from the start, and thinking to myself that now the Vettes could join the rust club. Back then, you didn't see too many frame rust problems. I guess they hadn't had enough time, or maybe it was just that i lived in the South and didn't get exposed to Corvettes with rust problems.

Ed, my '75 is VIN # 35026, A July 12th of '75 car. As another poster stated, it was all fiberglass with a cutout and metal "patch" to protect the floor from the heat of the converter. If my link works, there was a topic w/pics on another discussion board about this very same debate.
