Just a quick question, hopefully WITHOUT starting a long debate on why use leaded hi-octane in cars that don't really require same. My local gas station sells Phillips 66 leaded,110 octane racing fuel. I want to use some mixed with 93 unleaded in my '67. Will it harm engine or fittings?

Don:
It is not required for your 1967 smallblock. It will do no harm, nor will it do any good, either. So long as your engine does not detonate under normal conditions, then you do not need the extra octane. -

One decided disadvantage is greatly reduced sparkplug life due to the lead content. Lead removal is responsible for around 50% of the improved plug life in today's cars, and has the same effect when unleaded is used in an older vehicle.Bill Clupper #618Comment

Don, It probably will create more maintaince. But I believe its a good idea in a BB or Hi comp. motor. I had a 65 SB 11.1 comp. & it ran better with lead. DonComment
