Was this paint still used on the frames in 69 or was this a transition year with early ones receiving it and later ones getting a "different" "duller" type? I don't think that my frame has the asphalt paint on it but it is also not that dull either so I'm a little confused as to what it really has. Any ideas on how to tell one way or the other?

My 69 built in September, 1969 definitely had the asphaltic coating which was about medium gloss level (when new).In Appreciation of John Hinckley -

Hi Klaus,
My Vette's S/N is 14848 and was built Jan 31st. If you have any questions that you think I might be able to help you out with just let me know.
My car is also a L36 but it has a M40 and is a coupe. It is mostly original though with around 55k miles...it even still has the original front shocks that work like new! Take care and I'll talk to you later.
