Re: convet top
I've got a similar problem with a new white top on a '59. I get deep creases/wrinkles midway up the sides where it folds up. I use a soft towel to protect the window, so I'm wondering if that makes this worse? These creases were not in the top after it was installed. It fits nicely, but after a couple of weeks stored inside the deck, they appeared and don't come out after the top is up for weeks at a time.

Re: convet top
I have a 60 that is chafing in the same spots as you are describing. I am using a cotton diaper on the rear window area, so the thickness of the cloth is not an issue. I think it might just be the top rubbing on itself when it is in the down position. It is wearing on the inside cloth areas on the sides, and moreso on the passenger side. I am really careful about putting my top up and down and yet it is still doing it. Maybe you can't really help it unless you put a cloth diaper on the areas that are showing wear when you lower the top. I think I might try that myself. It might stop it from getting any worse.- Top

Re: convet top
My 1960 top wear problems as I described in my earlier post have happened even though I always leave my top up unless I am driving the car on a dry day. I do agree with your view on convertible tops, but I have never left the top down for any extended time and yet still have the chafing.- Top
