    1982 Front End Alignment

Can most alignment shops handle a C2 front end alignment or am I better off going to a specialty Corvette shop? Thanks.

you need to find a shop that has a old tech that has done the older cars, ask around at some of your local shows who they get. then find the old tech with the new machine an your in busn. good luck

I recently had my C3 aligned by a shop here on the East Coast owned by a former Corvette racer. He not only knew the car but had all the specs. He did a great job and let me watch and explained what he was doing. I don't think I would have that kind of experience at a typical franchise operation. He was recommended by a Corvette repair and restoration shop. Bill

              Billy -

The front end alignment is nothing special - it's the same upper control arm shim design used on almost every other car, and any alignment shop should be able to handle it with no problem. The rear is a whole different animal, however.

If you have radial tires, don't use the factory front toe-in specs - they're for the old bias-ply tires; radials want zero-to-1/16" TOTAL toe-in.

Don't do just the front end alignment. I would take it to a frame shop and have front and rear both done. You could also take it to a Chevy dealer. It should cost about $100.
