new battery for 54

My correct battery in my 54 seems tired and I want to replace it with a closed cell like the Optima, but the 6 volt Optima looks too goofy even for me. I have put closed cells in two of my other drivers and I no longer have to worry about making my wife walk home when we go for an ice cream. Any thoughts of what is available. I don't show the 54, but simply drive it and I want more reliability with something like the Optima.

I've never gotten less than 7 years from a basic Johnson Controls battery that you can buy at Costco, Pep Boys, Autozone, and other outlets. They're all the same battery - just different labels that I peel off to make a "plain black battery" that doesn't stick out like a sore thumb with gaudy labels.

The secret is that I keep them charged and always charge them before I crank the engine if the car has been sitting more than a few days.

All C1 and C2 Corvettes use a Group 24, which is still a fairly commonly available size.
