    C3 - SB intake bolts

I went back to the stock intake manifold when reassembled the 350/270hp. My problem is that the bolts used on the old PERFORMER intake appear 'short'. I know the correct bolts are in several cans of bolts I've collected. What would be the LENGTH of the intake bolts and are there any MARKINGS on the bolt head ? Would the stock intake be installed with WASHERS under the bolt ?

    Thanks

do not use bolts that are too long as they will hit on some pushrods and bend the pushrods.

Well, you can work the problem backwards using a Paragon catalog... They offer several kits for different C3 intake applications depending on year/configuration of the engine. Head marks vary and include double circle, M, and TR bolts. Sizes include 3/8-16-1.25, 3/8-16-1.250 and 3/8-16-1.375 with the longer bolts serving elevated position(s) on the intake (where engine lift brackets and other bolt-on accessories would be positioned such as TCS solenoid) and the shorter ones installed in non-elevated positions.

      No washers were originally used...

Consider 1-1/4" as the longest you want to use - any longer, and you risk pushrod interference in several locations.

            Hi Jim,
Since your going the stock way, take a trip to the auto wreckers and look at any SB 350 from 70's to 80's and look at the bolts. You will notice that the bolts at the ends of the intake have a higher head with a built-in washer plus I beleive they are longer because the front left and rear right have brackets attached to the intake for pulling the motor. The other bolts have a shallow head which are 1"1/2 long. I think the heads are 1/2" or maybe 9/16". If you ever want to see what the factory did or what it may of looked like go to the wreckers, it your best bet.
