The original owners manual for my June built '66 is dated January, '66. What would be the date on the original plastic envelope?

The envelope that came with my '71 LS-6 coupe, has a date of 3-16-66 and the part number 3834959

Rob, My 66 april build has a bag that is dated 1963. I have an original owners guide and POP, I would like to believe the bag is original.

Warren,
I believe your 71 should have the later envelope with the square key. I'm not at home but I think it has a 68 date on it, but in any event it will have a square key instead of the octagonal key. The envelope you have is the March 66 to 68 version. In 72 they went with the clear plastic envelope.

He can tell you whether the original owner was a smoker. I showed him mine with all the original documentation at Golden Gate, and he took one whiff at it, and says "You must be a smoker!"
Of course, it was at the bar. But after owning this car for 37 years, I can't smell the smoke on the envelope.
Seriously, my 67 original plastic owners manual bag, is dated 9-16-66. I was thinking of replacing it, but after talking to Dick, I'm going to keep it.
