    Seat Belt Parts

Can anybody point me in the right direction to find parts for the seat belts on my 68? Specifically looking for the springs for the retractors.

Due to liablility issues, I doubt that you will find anyone that will sell you parts for seat belts. Good news though is that the pieces you need were used for several years on most, if not all, car lines in GM. Find a junker that is dry on the inside and chances are you might find a good set of springs.

The early 68 lap belt portion that went under the seat looked the same as 67 style. It might even be the same mechanism and use the same spring. Seat belt return springs were only used in the early cars. Later cars didn't have them and the lap belt portion that was under the seat was completely different looking. Just a little info, you may already know this stuff. Terry

          Terry,

I have just begun my education, so all info is greatly appreciated. I bought this project to do the mechanical work and I find I am having just as much fun doing the research and learning why "Corvette" is such a magical word!

Indeed I do have an early 68. My tank label indicates an order received date of 9/12/67.

          Thanks,

          Jack

            Jeff,

Thanks for the info. I spoke with Charlie earlier today. He has pointed me in the right direction.

His answering machine message is kind of unique!
