    Decoding a '70

Can someone please help me. I am trying to purchase my first Corvette. I have chosen a '70 300hp/4 spd. coupe. I need help decoding:

    VIN#: 194370S405507

Tag in driver's side door jamb:

    Chevy C03

    Trim 400

    Pnt 975

    Engine block stamp pad:

    70540550

    VO202GID

I am thinking there should be a "7" at the end of the first number I quoted above under "...stamp pad", but the owner says it is not there. Any help decoding any of this would be greatly appreciated. Please respond by email if possible. It has taken me 40 years, a marriage, a mortgage, and two children before I could afford my first Corvette. I plan to enjoy it every sunny day I can.

    Thanks, Kevin

Kevin explained the numbers, probably the engine is V0202CTD, for manual base car, not GID, check again the code. Sometimes it is confusing to read the #s. I have the same car with identical engine date. Roberto, NCRS #30019, RMC

          Re: Interesting...Missing #7

CTD is the code for 300HP manual. Are you sure the "7" is missing, or is it very faint? I would double check the numbers/codes on the stamp pad. Maybe Al Grenning can comment. Chuck
