I need some help from NCRS members about how to remove the insert that goes into the rear crossmember. This insert is about 2 inches long and the right hand Park Brake Cable goes thru it. It also has spreader fingers inside the crossmember which prevents it from coming out easily. I am removing everything from the frame in order to restore it. This part isn't listed for sale in any of the major corvette suppliers that I could find. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Larry

Re: 63 Vette Park Brake Part Removal
It's been awhile since I removed mine, but there are a couple of expanding metal tangs. The way to compress them is to take an appropriate sized deep socket or piece of metal tube and push it over the cable from the front. With the right size (I can't remember what) the tangs will compress and you can withdraw the cable from the rear. With the right "tool" I remember it was easy, but it took a while to find that "tool".
