What is the correct GM part number for a '70 big block fan shroud for a 4 speed, air conditioned car? My assembly manual does not show this. Thank you for your help.

Dick and Dave-----
I think it's GM #3956119. The GM #3956109 is the small block with copper/brass radiator shroud. The 3956109 is 2" longer than the 3956119 and won't fit a big block application. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1970 big block fan shroud
At major swap meets (like the upcomming Bloomington Gold), you'll find vendors who've 'squirreled away' NOS '119 and '109 fan shrouds (can identify by their 119 or 109 emboss) with the difference between 'early' and 'late' service replacements having a slightly different color/hue profile. If memory serves, the later GM service replacement parts were darker in color (more black) than the early runs corresponding to factory use (lighter-toward grey/charcoal).
The current reproductions also bear the 119/109 emboss (double check before purchasing) and I don't know their color profile... I can tell you my experience with installing a reproduction lower shroud seal on a factory original '109 shroud was NOT good! Mounting holes did NOT align requiring me to 'shave' material from the lower seal in order to FORCE a sloppy fit of the two pieces.
So, you might be better off to simply buy both pieces in reproduction form (Dr. Rebuild, Corvette Central, Chicago Corvette catalogs to name a few) and take whatever deduction(s) that result. While you CAN find NOS original shrouds out there (with persistence in searching), it's almost impossible to find an NOS lower seal to match!- Top
