Re: would not the drunks at B/J shell out more mon
Possibly. By the way, I've been to a couple of Barrett- Jacksons and not all the crazy money is spent by drunks!
Another issue is that I live 3 hours from Bloomington and can either drive the SWC there or easily have someone trailer it. B/J in Arizona is a much more expensive proposition, both in logistics and in their 8% premium on the buyer AND the seller.- Top

Re: Whose going to Bloomington?
My first Bloomington was the second year of it's existance so you beat me by a year John. At that time, part of the trip from Chicago still included about 40 miles on old Rt 66. We should have some sort of reunion for all the people that were there at least 25 years ago. The original Bloomington Corvette Corrall geezers club.
Does anyone have pictures from the 70's?

Returning to the original site is not an option; it's lost to development. Of the remaining sites, Springfield was the best as far as I'm concernedIn Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Whose going to Bloomington?
All I had heard was there was a bunch of guy's getting together at Bloomington that had Corvette's. As I remember there were probably 8 to 10 cars lined up. I don't think they did any judjing. There were 2 or 3 people selling parts. The man who owned Lincoln Corvette flew in and parked his rented Town Car right where the Corvette's were parked. I took and old 54 headlight assembly that I found at the county landfill and a NOS dist. and he bought them both. Sure wish I had some picture's.- Top

Re: Whose going to Bloomington?
I have pictures, but they are in an album...not scanned. I lived across the street in '74 and 75. Of course it was best at the original Bloomington fairgrounds that no longer exist. Most of it is Lowes.
Usually my scanner sends my computer into neverland, but I'll see if I can get any scanned.
Long live the memories of Bloomington in the 70s.78 white L82 M21- Top

Re: Who Remembers?
Geoffrey, who remembers the guaranteed one day of rain, the six inches of mud, the heat and dust of 1988? Lotsa good memories at the old fairgrounds. The year that Shirley placed me in the sheep barn. Only problem, no room fer trailer. The displays put on at OEM Glass on Thursday night, Sox & Martin Cuda, Arnie Beswick's Pontiac side by side on the road.
Lotsa good memories. Thanks everyone for them.Dick Whittington- Top

Re: Whose going to Bloomington?
I will also be in Bloomington. I have been going since 1987 and I think I liked the McLean County Fairgrounds the best despite the rain, mud, and dust. It was more like a fair than the business that it has become. There were vendors stuck in every nook and cranny and it was a lot more casual. St. Charles is very much like any other swap meet in a large parking lot. Even though it was 3 hours farther away for me, it was an easier drive since you didn't have to deal with Chicago traffic. We stayed at Illinois State University dorms and had a party every night outside in the parking lot. The raod tour was very nice also driving through the countryside. I think it has shrunk in size because many people don't want to go to metro Chicago and stay away, opting for Carlysle instead. Several years ago some of us got together during the show and it was nice to put faces with the names we see all year long on this board. Is there any interest out there in schuduling an informal meet?
