    '66 CARB TO INTAKE GASKET

The Holley renew kit for my #3367 comes with two different gaskets. One has four holes in it and the other just seals around the perimeter of the carb. Which is correct for a '66 L79? The one I removed just went around the perimeter, so I thought I'd check.

did you find your flooding problem?

if the manifold has 4 holes use that gasket but any other configuration use the open one

      Clem,

I couldn't solve the problem, so I'm putting the original #3367 back on. The manifold is stock, with two circles on the driver's side and a large oval on the passenger side. Does that mean the open gasket is correct?

the original gasket had that same shape,2 round holes and 1 oval shaped one. if you do not have that gasket use the open one because the one with 4 holes could be sucked into the oval shaped opening. always match the gasket to the manifold opening.

          Clem,

I decided to put the original #3367 back on with a new secondary fuel inlet valve and seat. Now when I start the car, fuel spills out the rear vent tube. I guess it has to be the float, since it's the only part of the secondary system I used on both carbs. Strange though, it worked fine when I removed it, and I don't know what could have happened to it just by removing the bowl and putting it back on. Am I correct that the only way fuel can spill out like this is from the float not shutting off the fuel to the rear bowl?

take the rear bowl and insert the tube that goes between the front and rear bowl with the "O" ring. turn the bowl upside down in a vise, apply about 4# of air pressure to the fuel transfer tube, i use a old blood pressure checker squeeze bulb to do this and squirt liquid soap solution around the inside of the float bowl and you should see bubbles where the leak is comming from. if you see no bubbles the float must be hanging up on something when you assemble the carb

                Clem,

I removed the float, put it back in, pushing it towards the rear of the bowl, and the flooding has stopped. Guess, as you say, for some reason it was hanging up. Thanks for your help...
